Savings on IT Managed Services

Introduction

Our client owns & manages a successful portfolio of companies operating in multiple different sectors, with a growing workforce of over 300 people working with some of the most respected brands, and public sector organisations throughout the UK

The Challenge

Following a number of acquisitions over a 6 year period, our client found themselves with multiple IT managed service providers (MSP) providing same or similar services under multiple contracts.

Not only did this increase the supplier relationship management overhead, but it also made it difficult to keep track of all the different contracts with varying contractual terms.

Implementing any new technology changes was cumbersome and expensive, involving an array of suppliers and complex integrations with legacy IT systems. Without the ability to make the required technological changes while operating in a fast-growing competitive market, our client was in danger of being left behind.

The Solution

Intercor conducted a rapid review of the IT service provider contracts incl. commercials and engaged with key contacts across the organisation to understand the scope of the existing services being provided and future strategy outlook.

From our commercial review, we are able to identify a number of cost-saving initiatives which would generate significant savings that could be reinvested in a group-wide digital transformation programme.

Following a number of rapid tender processes, we were able to consolidate from multiple different MSPs to a single group-wide MSP, while leveraging the buying-power of the entire portfolio of companies to achieve significant group-wide savings on enterprise licences and telecoms.

“Reducing supplier numbers and contract complexity achieved greater service transparency and reduced management overhead, but also allowed the business to move forward with greater confidence”

Brad Dowden, Founder of Intercor

The Results

  • Over 51% saving on telecom costs which included a considerable hardware fund to procure new mobile devices across Group
  • Over 16% saving on Microsoft licensing with a further cost avoidance of 9%
  • Over 56% saving on IT Managed Services Provider (MSP) with business-aligned SLA's and the scale to support future business growth

Conclusion

This case study demonstrates the power of strategic IT service consolidation in reducing costs and simplifying operations, thereby allowing a diversified company to reinvest in growth and remain competitive.

The initiative not only optimized financial resources but also aligned IT services with the strategic needs of the business, setting a robust foundation for future technological advancements.
